🏆 2025 Children’s Book Writing Contest Winners Announced!
In celebration of Library Appreciation Week, the Westfield Library Foundation hosted a Children’s Book Writing Contest with the theme “A Night at the New Library!” We received over 100 submissions! With so many inspiring entries, it was tough to choose just one winner per category. So, we’re thrilled to announce that the top three stories in each category will be published and featured in a special book display at the library.

📚 All books will be illustrated, published, and shelved at the Westfield Washington Public Library later this summer. Stay tuned for more details on when you can check them out!
🎉 Unveiling the Adult Library of Things!
In celebration of the library’s 123rd birthday on April 15, the Foundation gifted the library with a brand-new Adult Library of Things! This collection of everyday items can now be borrowed just like books,offering something for everyone:

- Sports Equipment 🏀
- Cooking & Baking Tools 🍳
- Musical Instruments 🎸
- And much more!
Find the Adult Library of Things on the second floor, near non-fiction. You can even add to the collection by purchasing a gift from our Amazon Wish List here.
🎨 Spotlight on Local Talent: The Heaton Art Gallery Wall
We’re proud to celebrate the opening of the Michael and Karen Heaton Art Gallery Wall, a new addition to the Westfield Washington Public Library. Located throughout several prominent areas, including the Rivet at the Library Café and the second-floor parlor, this dynamic gallery is dedicated to showcasing local artists’ work across various mediums. So far in 2025, we’ve been honored to display the work of 15 talented artists, including:

🌱 The Seed Library is Open!
It’s time to dig in! The Seed Library is officially open for the season. Whether you’re growing your first tomato or creating a pollinator-friendly flower bed, we have seeds for you. Here’s how it works:
- Borrow seeds from the collection
- Grow your plants
- Return harvested seeds, if you can

🤠 Save the Date: Cowboy Carnival Coming in November!
Saddle up, Westfield! Get ready for an evening of fun, games, and giving at our first-ever Cowboy Carnival—an adult-only event on Saturday, November 1 at 7:00 PM at the Westfield Washington Public Library. This Western-themed game night will feature high-energy activities, including:
- 🐂 Indoor Bull Riding
- ♠️ Texas Hold ’Em Poker Tables
- 🎯 Western-style carnival games and more
It will also serve as the official Special unveiling of the Foundation’s beloved Christmas Tree Raffle. Stay tuned for more details, this is one night you won’t want to miss!
